This program is designed to be an interactive way of entering statistical information about the key measurable aspects of an individual's play. "At Bats", or Plate Appearances, allow the player to record every hit during play, and retrieve and display that information graphically, including a single "Hitting" chart which displays all hits recorded for that game simultaneously. Baserunning may also be entered interactively. Pitching may be entered on a pitch-by-pitch basis, or in summary form. Defense is entered in summary form.
It is possible for every detail to be recorded for a player interactively during the game if one has a laptop PC (with sufficient battery power)! However, it is more practical to enter the details in the book diary, and transfer the information into the application after the game is completed and you have access to your PC at home. The benefits are:
the book diary:
fits hip or shirt pockets, so it is very portable and convenient;
can be updated by the player between innings;
can be updated by the parent/friend/coach during play.
the computer program:
provides a convenient way to access any game recorded;
provides statistical summaries based on type of game (eg. League, Playoff, Exhibition);
offers flexibility in some methods of calculation (eg. 6, 7 or 9 inning games, etc.);
provides context-sensitive help on each screen ([F1] key);
files can be backed up, providing additional assurance against loss.
An additional book, What I Taught Mom About Baseball, by Mitch Rubenstein, is also available, separately or as part of a package (as outlined below). This book is a convenient reference to all participants to explain the terminology of baseball and to explain how to calculate various statistics.

A demonstration version of the program named STSMSTR.ZIP is available to DOWNLOAD. This version inhibits loading existing files (except for reporting), and inhibits the printing of statistical reports, but is otherwise fully functional.
